Freak Vision and the Freak Out collection were the stars of the soirée.
For the launch of the new Freak Out collection in Russia, guests were invited to leave their daily realities behind and enter the mysterious Freak world.
Extraordinary, eccentric, rebellious... the collection is for trendsetters, free spirits and true adventurers, so the setting for the soirée—a sea of light, sound and leading-edge technology—couldn’t have fit the bill better. Virtual reality, lasers, fog machines, 3D mapping set the scene for live sets performed by some of the world’ finest DJs and musicians, including:
Fabrizio Rat, a techno pianist/producer with a revolutionary approach towards his instrument;
Nikola Melnikov, a 25-year old Moscow pianist, sound producer, sound designer, DJ and composer, and one of the most promising young Russian composers and improvisers from the graduating class of pianists at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music;
Andrei Antonets - aka 0id - a co-founder of Alexandroid, one of the brighter spots on the Russian experimental electronica scene (and a big influence on bands like Fizzarum, Sintetika, and EU);
ISHOME, who cuts, slices, plays, programs and mixes it all together by herself, making a soothing mixture of complex broken beats, ambient atmos, quirky pop vocals and ground-moving grooves.
Freak architecture is even more out-of-this-world than the Troyka Multispace: it replaces traditional anchor and anchor wheel with two silicium impulse wheels in the center. Both wheels have 18 engaging teeth, each activating an alternator that transmits its energy to the balance staff — first in one direction, then the other. Requiring no lubrication, the structure ensures that force is always released in the direction of the balance rotation, thereby minimizing friction. The silicium hairspring beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hertz) and is only very slightly disturbed. The amount of disturbance is reduced to a minimum thanks to the low lift angle.
