To mark the occasion, Ulysse Nardin has reproduced three iconic illustrations from Manara's work using the technique of miniature painting. In the town of Le Locle, deep in the heart of the Swiss Jura mountains, this unique expertise requiring unparalleled manual dexterity is practised and sustained by the craftspeople at Ulysse Nardin.
It takes hundreds of hours of miniature painting work to faithfully reproduce Manara's illustrations on the watch dials, the surface of which is only a tenth of the size of the original watercolours.
